Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird calls on UN to maintain sanctions on Iran, help those in need

Baird On Obama-Rouhani Call: 'Actions Will Speak Louder Than Words'

It will take more than a long-distance phone call, even a historic one, to thaw diplomatic relations between Canada and Iran, Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird indicated in an interview with CBC Radio's The House.
U.S. President Barack Obama's spoke by phone with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Friday, marking the first time leaders from the U.S. and Iran have spoken in over 30 years.
When asked about the phone call, Baird told host Evan Solomon he welcomed the change in tone but that Canada remained "skeptical."
Baird conceded that "good talk is better than bad talk" but quickly pointed out that, "we haven't seen any movement yet" despite Obama's show of optimism following Friday's rare phone call.
Obama said, following his meeting with Rouhani, that he believed the U.S. and Iran can reach a comprehensive solution over the latter's nuclear program.
"We think actions will speak louder than words," Baird said.

The minister outlined three areas where Canada would like to see "real movement" on the part of Iran, namely:

John Baird UN speech: Canada urges tough stance on Iran

Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird, said in his speech to the UN that encouraging words from Iran aren't substitutes for ending its nuclear ambitions or improving its human rights record.

OTTAWA—Canada is calling on other nations to maintain tough sanctions against Iran despite that country’s “charm offensive,” Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird says.
Speaking at the United Nations on Monday morning, Baird drove home Canada’s skepticism around Iran’s new outreach to the west.
“Sound bites do not remove threats to global security. Kind words, a smile and a charm offensive are not a substitute for real action,” Baird told the general assembly.

U.S. President Barack Obama has praised Iran’s new “moderate” approach under President Hassan Rouhani. Last week, Obama and Rouhani spoke by the phone, the first time leaders of the two countries have spoken in more than three decades.
Canada severed its own diplomatic ties with Iran a year ago, shutting its embassy in Tehran because of security concerns and kicking out Iranian diplomats. In his speech Monday, Baird signalled that Canada is keen to see reforms in Iran but won’t soften its stance until tangible progress is evident.
“We will welcome and acknowledge reform, if and when it comes,” Baird said, according to a text of his prepared remarks.
“By this we will know when genuine reform has occurred: Has there been real, measurable, material improvement in the lives of the Iranian people and in the security of the world,” the foreign affairs minister said.
“Nothing would make Canada more pleased than to see a change in Iran’s nuclear ambitions. A change to its terrible human rights record. And an end to Iran’s material support for terrorism,” Baird said.
Baird talked tough on the other security crisis in the region — the unfolding civil war in Syria and allegations of chemical weapons use by President Bashar Assad's regime.
Baird said that while Canada does not support Assad, it will not back extremists battling to take his place.
“We will never support a brutal and illegitimate regime that has unleashed weapons of mass destruction on its own people. Nor will we tolerate extremism and terrorism as alternatives to Assad’s tyranny,” Baird said.
Instead, he said that Canada backs a “peaceful, democratic and pluralistic Syria.”
“But let us not confuse a peaceful, negotiated outcome with equivocation or moral uncertainty. There can be no moral ambiguity about the use of chemical weapons on civilians,” he said.
Baird also spoke of Canada’s own development initiatives, including a call to end forced marriages, which he called “violence against women.”
“Early forced marriage is child rape, violence against young girls. The practice is abhorrent and indefensible,” Baird said.
And he highlighted Canada’s ongoing efforts to reduce maternal and infant mortality, which Harper put in the spotlight during his own visit to the United Nations last week.
Baird opened his address by paying tribute to the “victims of terrorism” like those killed in the terror attack in Kenya that killed two Canadians, including a diplomat.

“There is no more fitting venue to honour the life of Annemarie Desloges and her service than right here, in front of these United Nations,” Baird said. “The crime of terror is an assault on all people.”

Iran: Six Kurds may face execution tomorrow

Amnesty International

Iran: Six Kurds may face execution tomorrow

The Iranian authorities must urgently halt the execution of six men on death row in Ghezel Hesar Prison near Tehran. Two of them have been transferred to solitary confinement today sparking fears they are at imminent risk of execution Amnesty International said.
Hamed Ahmadi and Sedigh Mohammadi are among six Sunni Muslim men from Iran’s Kurdish minority who were sentenced to death after being convicted of vaguely-worded offences including “enmity against God” and “corruption on earth”.
“The news of the transfer of two Iranian men to solitary confinement indicate the worst for the men. It is known as the execution waiting room for inmates sentenced to death,” said Hassiba Hadj Sahraoui, Amnesty International’s Deputy Director for the Middle East and North Africa.
“The death penalty is the ultimate cruel and inhuman punishment. For decades Iranian authorities have issued death sentences ruthlessly and on a regular basis.”
Amnesty International has also learned that prison authorities intend to transfer the four others on death row – Jamshid Dehgani, his younger brother Jahangir Dehgani, Kamal Molayee, and Hadi Hosseini – to solitary confinement. They too may face imminent execution.
The organization believes some of these men have been tried in proceedings falling short of international standards.
“While recent releases of political prisoners offered a glimmer of hope , executions have continued and token gestures will not be enough to address the abysmal human rights record of the Iranian authorities.”
Iran is the world’s most prolific executioner after China. More than 400 executions are believed to have taken place in total in 2013.

Amnesty International opposes the death penalty in all cases without exception.

President Rohani and the Relation with US ......

The relation with US must be authorized by Supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei. Mr. Rohani alone as president can't go forward to establish diplomatic tie with US. Rohani is a very smart and good negotiator ,because of his past diplomatic delegation on nuclear energy and he is pretty well established with international experience, however , Islamic regime in Iran willing to play on this card for a while , like the way they played the card of Iran-Iraq war to suppress the opposition inside Iran. Like the issue of nuclear energy ,this new topic of relation with US can come in rescue of the Islamic regime and supreme leader himself for his past 8 years disastrous support of Ahmadinejad. So, Cold war between US and Iran with the newly elect moderate president should not give this notion that, Iran is going to make deal with US soon , it may take a long process which may not even happen under president Rohani's four years term. One of the factor that brought all these changes in the Islamic regime in Iran is because of US threat of war with Syria and fear of regime getting into a war with US , not because Iran wanted to go to rescue Syria ,no, news inside Iran prior to the US decision to attack Syria shows otherwise ( Islamic regime authorities were divided on Syrian issue ). Therefore, fear have played a positive role ,or fear among the supreme leader's circle played a positive role not only for the Iranian but also for the world peace as well. After the revolution many promises by Islamic regime were postponed and the authorities pretext was that ,we are at war , so , Iran - Iraq war came in rescue of the Islamic regime and brought national unity against the Sadam's aggression. Dragging nuclear energy issue and this new issue of relation with US can also dominate the unsolved issues inside Iran. And Iranian people are tired of this games.

UN and the world expectation from Iran.......

It seems the Islamic regime had plan not to meet Obama at this time . If the only expectation of the UN was that, Obama and Rohani will meet at Ban Ki Moon's dinner party,it was false, because everyone knows that, the Islamic delegate won't attend the dinner party for its liquor serving reason. The regime officials said, they didn't attend such party in the past years as well.
It also seems that Mr. Rohani in his speech will focus on Iran's rights for peaceful nuclear energy, dismantlement of sanctions and Islam as a mercy faith.

Hasan Rohani Newly Elected president in Iran is in New York for UN General Assembly !

There is no doubt Rohani isn't Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. In the past UN General assembly whenever Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stood on the UN podium many countries boycotted his speech. He also did not represent the Iranian people because he was announced winner by a coup against the Green movement candidate and leader Musavi who is now under house arrest. But Hassan Rohani has more than 18 Million vote of Iranian people with him when he attends UN assembly and Millions of Iranian hope he will take step to change the internal and international policy which would differ from the past 8 years disastrous policy taken by Supreme leader Khamenei when he supported Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the coup in 2009.Iranian people are divided on Rohani , some think its all same old stories but other optimistic and hope he will bring changes ,not only international changes but internal changes as well. So far ,he has brought some hope in internal & international stage. It is certain that, the Islamic regime in Iran could not and would not like to go to the same path as the past 8 years. The growing unrest and protest inside Iran due to economic hardship and devaluation of Iranian money , increase in food prices , inflation of more than 50% and unemployment of more than 8.5 million and so many other factors and continues Sanction and increased tension and threat of war in the international stage pushed the regime and spiritual leader in Iran to admit his policies and embraced a softer approach which the supreme leader called it earlier " Heroic Softness ". So ,Rohani attends UN with a green light by Khamenei to reduce the tension between Iran and US , but everything is being monitored by Supreme leader and fundamentalist forces in Iran.
Islamic regime in Iran , supreme leader Khamenei and president Rohani have no other choice , they must take this step to reduce the tension and reduce the sanction and save their Islamic regim ,they can't go the same old path as the past 8 years , which means more unrest in Iran and more threat of war with US and the west and more sanctions. On these notes Hasan Rohani's attendance to UN general Assembly is highly important for regime.

Islamic regime Judiciary Spokesperson: We Have NO Political Prisoner in Our Country!!!!?????

Prosecutor General of the Country Mr. Mohseni Ejeie in his press conference Said: "We Have No Political Prisoner in Our Country" !!!!!?????
Mr. Ejeie who also acts as spokesperson for judiciary said : There is a possibility for the release of other " Security " prisoners. Therefore, based on Mr. Ejeie's mind, political prisoners in Iran are the " security" prisoners. According to him, people who have protested against the presidential election coup in 2009 and were arrested and detained are not political prisoners but " Security " prisoners.

IRAN WATCH CANADA: Iranian people have to worry about their security and life when these kinds of people run the judiciary and act as prosecutor general of the country, and easily lie to people and media.
So, these people in the Islamic courts ( Pictures below ),arrested and detained after the presidential coup of 2009 are all " security " prisoners and not political prisoners ???!!!!

Islamic regime in Iran an entangled / intricate setting ! Who has the Real Power in the Islamic Regime in Iran ?

In the News..... 1- Many human rights advocates and dissent opposition of the regime continue their call for change in the Islamic regime's constitution but Khatami the former president and a known "islamic reformist" in an attack to those dissent opposition tells them , the constitution is not socks that whenever you don't like it ,you will throw it away and take a new one!? He said, speaking about the change in constitution is a deviate topic. In the past some in the opposition had called for a referendum on changing the constitution.Mr. Khatami however about an article in the constitution on the "power of president" attacked at the fundamentalists in the regime who ask for limiting the power and responsibility of the president. The current political situation in Iran is that , now that Mr. Hasan Rohani become the president , Iranian people are watching him to see what he can and can not do?? !!!! And who has the real power in the Islamic Regime in Iran? If the trend become in a way that regime can not continue the past eight years of Ahmadinejad, then the years ahead must prove and guarantee the future Government by Islamic reformists and moderates and not anymore the fundamentalists. This is what worries the Iranian people ,the fear of yet another Ahmadinejad style of Government and Khamenei's support for them.!!!???? Iran’s assets in Canada include more than $2.6-million held in 13 different bank accounts, Ottawa reveals

 |  | Last Updated: 13/09/10 1:36 AM ET

The Embassy of Iran on Metcalfe St. in Ottawa after Foreign Minister John Baird announced, diplomatic relations between Canada and Iran have been suspended.Wayne Cuddington / Ottawa Citizen
The federal government says Iran’s non-diplomatic assets can be awarded to terror victims, while diplomatic assets are protected under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and therefore cannot be awarded. But the matter is still before the Ontario courts.
The release of the highly unusual list was portrayed by officials as an attempt to help victims hold Iran to account for arming and bankrolling an array of terrorists. It comes more than a year after Parliament enacted the Justice for Victims of Terrorism Act, which allows Canadian victims of terrorism to seek redress through the courts.
The law applies to victims of attacks committed anywhere in the world as far back as Jan. 1, 1985. Under the legislation, nations designated by Canada as state sponsors of terrorism lose their state immunity. On Sept. 7, 2012, the government listed Iran and Syria, opening both governments up to lawsuits. Canadian terror victims are now preparing suits but none has yet been filed. Two cases involving U.S. victims trying to collect damages are currently being heard in Ontario courts.

Khamenei's Islamic regime , Rohani's Islamic Government .......

You want to have Islamic Regime in Your Country ? Read This or ask Iranian women about it......
Bothering , arresting women for allegedly violating dress code in the street and detaining them continues in Rohani's so called moderate Government.
This picture shows Narges Mohammadi one of Iranian prominent human rights defender and vice president of the Association of Human Rights Defenders in Iran . She is dressed in green and is among many Dress Code patrol women Officers ( with Black Veils) as well as men officers.

In a letter of protest , she wrote to the minister of interior , she said:

"On last Saturday ,i was with my two children going to attend to a Socio- cultural event at " Milad " Tower. when an officer stopped me and told methat i can't get in and cant attend the event due to my "Hejab" or dress code . "
"This came to my  surprise and i looked at myself and laughed, i had a large bandana not only covering my hair but it also covered my shoulder , and i had a wide cover all green dress which covered my black skirt , which was down below my knees, and a black stocking which covered my entire legs, may be if someone had looked very carefully could only see an span of my bare feet which were inside the stocking and shoes. Anyway my entire body was covered. I tried to speak with officers and to convince them , but the officers were threatening me and telling me take a walk . I asked one of the officer, Mr.,  Is my body not covered ? Is it because my hair can be seen? Is it because my dress is tight? or is it because my skirt is short? The officer said , no , but we won't let you get in , i didn't give up and continued to speak with them and to convince them that their action is unacceptable and there is no logic with their action. My effort was without result. One of the person came forward and told me that i your hejab has problem, and then a young man who had a camera as an expert came forward and told me that , wearing support stocking is illegal. Hearing the word of law , i laughed and cried as well , I told to that young man, see brother , the stocking that i'm wearing is the thickest stocking in the world and in Iranian Market, I said , what is the problem? he said , i don't know , it is illegal, then i asked him, when this law was imposed? And then i saw Ms. Mohtashami -Pour was coming toward me and asked the officers ,what is going on? One of the officer was taking picture in close range from me and i protested , then all of a sudden an officer who seemed to be their commander called for my arrest , my protest and Ms. Mohtashamipour's protest we walked away from the scene, while my children were crying and fighting back. "
This is the policy of the Islamic Hejab in the street of Iran , whether it is Ahmadinejad's Government of Rohani's Government ? It's a policy and Iranian women suffers most from this kind of regime.

(Kabul, September 9, 2013) – Iranian authorities should shelve plans to expel hundreds of thousands of Afghans after their visas expired on September 6, 2013, Human Rights Watch said today. Iran should not expel any Afghan refugee until a system is in place that allows asylum seekers to have their asylum claims considered fairly and to challenge any order to deport them.

The September 6 deadline passed without any Iranian government statement about whether and how it may carry out the deportations. Security conditions in Afghanistan coupled with the absence of a fair asylum process in Iran means that any mass deportation of Afghans would amount to a serious violation of international law. The Afghan government had estimated that 300,000 Afghan visa holders would be required to leave Iran by September 6 if no extension is granted. Hundreds of thousands more undocumented Afghans could ultimately be affected.

“Afghans in Iran are caught between a rock and a hard place,” said Joe Stork, acting Middle East director at Human Rights Watch.” The Iranian government is rushing to push them back across the border at a time when security conditions in Afghanistan are increasingly uncertain and dangerous.”

At a minimum, the Iranian government should fairly consider the claims of anyone facing deportation who says they will be harmed upon their return, Human Rights Watch said.

On August 24, Iran’s semi-official Mehr News Agency reported that all undocumented Afghans and those holding temporary visas under a government program to register undocumented foreigners should leave Iran before their visas expire on September 6 or face imprisonment, fines, and ultimately expulsion. An Iranian government website confirmed this but said that Afghanistan’s ambassador to Tehran had asked Iran to extend the visas beyond September 6. Afghan government sources say this request has yet to receive a response.

If no visa extension is granted, hundreds of thousands of Afghans will be obliged to leave Iran this week. Only around 800,000 of the 3 million Afghans estimated to live in Iran have legal status as refugees. Another 400,000 to 600,000 Afghans hold temporary visas, while others are undocumented. Many are migrant workers. Afghans play a key role in Iran’s economy, often taking on many of the most dangerous and dirty jobs for very low wages.

From 2010 to June 2012, the Iranian government operated a Comprehensive Regularization Plan (CRP) that offered undocumented Afghans in Iran an opportunity to register officially and apply for temporary visas, passports, and work permits with the possibility, but not the guarantee, that these would be extended. The process required Afghan men without families to return to Afghanistan to apply for the passports and visas, while families could do so without leaving Iran. The Iranian authorities have also encouraged Afghans who have legal status as refugees to obtain Afghan passports and exchange refugee status for Iranian residential visas.

According to Mehr and other sources, the September 6 deadline applied to all Afghans whose visas will expire on or before that date, regardless of whether they have registered under the CRP or are former refugees who converted their status. Any undocumented Afghan found to have remained in Iran beyond the September 6 deadline could face imprisonment and be required to pay a 30,000 toman fine (approximately US$12) for each day that they overstay.

The Iranian government has taken various steps to encourage or force Afghans to leave Iran since the fall of the Taliban government in Afghanistan 12 years ago. Although Iran has ratified the 1951 Refugee Convention, the authorities have failed to provide any system to allow Afghans facing deportation to register asylum claims or contest their deportation on grounds that they will face persecution if they are returned to Afghanistan. This failure has become critical as security conditions in Afghanistan worsen ahead of the planned withdrawal of all international combat forces from Afghanistan by the end of 2014.

If Iran sticks to the September 6 deadline, it may push hundreds of thousands of Afghans back across its eastern border into Afghanistan as rights and security conditions in that country deteriorate further. UNHCR, the United Nations (UN) refugee agency, is already warning of increased conflict between government forces and armed groups in Afghanistan as international troops draw down and hand control to Afghan forces.

UNHCR’s “Eligibility Guidelines for Assessing the International Protection Needs of Asylum-Seekers from Afghanistan,” issued in August 2013, also point to the risks that Afghan returnees  face due to “endemic corruption, difficulties in establishing and maintaining governmental authority, continuing concerns about weaknesses in the rule of law and an underperforming judicial system, widespread human rights violations, and a general climate of impunity.”

The Guidelines state that at least 40 percent of more than 5.8 million Afghan refugees who returned to Afghanistan since 2002 were unable to “reintegrate into their home communities, resulting in significant secondary displacement, mostly to urban areas.” Up to 60 percent of returnees have experienced difficulties “in rebuilding their lives” in Afghanistan, UNHCR says, while both returning refugees and those displaced internally face problems due to insecurity in their home areas, loss of livelihoods, lack of access to health care and education, and difficulties in reclaiming land and property.

Based partly on the UNHCR guidelines, the Pakistan government’s Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development recently concluded that, “Afghan refugees residing in Pakistan should see their legal permission to stay in Pakistan extended until 31st December 2015.” Pakistan has 1.6 million registered Afghan refugees and an unknown number of undocumented Afghans.

Human Rights Watch has previously expressed concern about attempts by authorities in both Iran and Pakistan to push back Afghans entering their countries from Afghanistan without establishing a transparent asylum system. Such a system is needed to ensure compliance with Iran’s and Pakistan’s international legal obligations not to refoule – or unlawfully return –refugees to a place where they would face persecution or other serious human rights violations.

In addition to being denied any means to register asylum claims, Afghans face serious rights abuses during their deportation by Iranian security forces. A Human Rights Watch report scheduled for release in November will document how Iranian forces physically abuse Afghan deportees, detain them in unsanitary and inhumane conditions, force them to pay for their own transportation and accommodation in deportation camps, or to undergo forced labor if they cannot pay, and separate families.

“Afghans make up the world’s largest refugee population and people are leaving the country in droves as security conditions there continue to deteriorate,” Stork said. “Countries around the world, including Iran, have a duty to hear and fairly consider the cases of Afghans who fear returning home.”

IRAN WATCH CANADA: On the issue of Syria ,yes Iran was and still is an ally, but not like before, Division among the officials are growing ( "reformists & Moderate" vs "Conservatives & fundamentalists" ) . Islamic regime isn't as strong as before. 2009 election , the presidential coup and Khamenei's support for Ahmadinejad ( the charlatan ) changed people's opinion, this doesn't mean just the secular Iranian ,but the Islamists too. Islamists who have supported the regime for years are turning their back gradually to the regime of Khamenei. The regime in Iran is Khamenei's regime and not the people's , because he is the one who holds all the power,he is the supreme commander of the army and he does major decision making of the Islamic regime in Iran and not the Government. Fear factor for losing the last ally in the region ( Fall of Asad Regime) and the American Invasion of Syria and the possible involvement of Iran in to the conflict has increased the division not only among the officials  , the "fundamentalists-conservative" and the "reformists - moderates" but also the Iranian people against Khamenei's decision and bringing our country into supporting Asad and into an unwanted war.
The politics of the Islamic regime after the end of the cold war in order to expand its hegemonies :
Try's to create its cells around the world most particularly in the Islamic states from South East Asia to Middle Eastern, Central Asia and Africa.
Try's to create instability in the world
Try's to muddy the water " To Fish in Troubled Waters"
and.........

Middle East Countries & Democracy .......

The problem in the Middle Eastern countries is that, It was and it continue to run by king, Leader and life time presidents Like Shah of Iran , Khamenei , Sadam Hosein , Ghadafi , Asad , Mobarak , Saudi's King Faisal and....... instead of letting all the political parties including communist, socialist ,Liberal and so on to freely participate in the election.
1-Picture: Shah of Iran
2- Khamenei ,leader of the Islamic regime in Iran

On the situation of Iran, the goal of the revolution of 1978-79 was that, all the political parties be free and people of Iran to chose what party they wanted to run the Country, unfortunately Khomeini betrayed the people and created one man state like the former regime of the Shah. These kind of regimes won't help solve the problems people face in their country. The Middle Eastern society needs openness, Freedom & democracy. We the people of the Middle East don't understand ,why revolution after revolution and regime change ,we go back to where we started? Like Iran , Iraq , Egypt , Libya ,Tunesia and now Syria ..... Although the situation of each country differs. And the intervention of western countries because of their interest ,most specially the OIL & natural GAS is our biggest problem , NO wonder why after so much uprising and so much martyrdom we go back to square one. We hear about Evolution and not revolution, or , Gradual change and not a magic pill to solve the problem , or  we need to upgrade the socio-cultural & political structure of the country, the creation of civil -non governmental organizations. That each one of Middle Eastern to create his or her family as a non governmental organization or few friends circle to work on one particular civil rights tasks.  One other major problem we have is the religious - conservative structure of the society and unfortunately the one man rulers and western countries helped keep this tradition and helped the religious industries to expand in the Middle Eastern societies, instead of helping the building of democracies.
Iranian revolution came and gone, the Arab Spring came and gone and Middle Eastern people wonder how to approach in order to arrive to a democratic society.

Angelina Jolie to Receive Honorary Oscar for Humanitarian Work at 2013 Governors Awards Read more: http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/angelina-jolie-to-receive-honorary-oscar-for-humanitarian-work-at-2013

September 5, 2013 AT 7:00PM

And the Oscar goes to...Angelina Jolie! The Governors Awards are still two months away, but fans don't have to wait to find out who's taking home one of the coveted honorary statues. On Thursday, Sept. 5, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that Jolie -- along with Angela Lansbury, Steve Martin, and costume designer Piero Tosi -- had been selected by the Board of Governors to receive trophies at the Nov. 16 ceremony in L.A."The Governors Awards pay tribute to individuals who've made indelible contributions in their respective fields," Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs said in an announcement about the recipients. "We couldn't be more excited for this year's honorees and look forward to bringing their peers and colleagues together to celebrate their extraordinary achievements."

Jolie, 37, is set to receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the fifth annual event. Named for the Danish actor and philanthropist who served as president of the Motion Picture Relief Fund, the award is given to "an individual in the motion picture industry whose humanitarian efforts have brought credit to the industry." Past recipients have included Oprah Winfrey, Jerry Lewis, Quincy Jones, Paul Newman, Elizabeth Taylor, and Audrey Hepburn.
Jolie has certainly proven herself worthy of such company. In recent years, the Maleficent actress has become as famous for her philanthropy as for her film career. She's a noted advocate for many causes, including the Prevent Sexual Violence Initiative, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
"I've enjoyed being an actress," she told Britain's Channel 4 News in 2012. "And I am so grateful to the job. I've had great experiences, and I have even be able to tell stories and be a part of stories that mattered...It's a really lucky profession to be a part of. But if it went away tomorrow, I would be very happy to be home with my children."

"I wake up in the morning as a mum," she continued, "and I turn on the news like everybody else, and I see what's happening, and I want to be part of the world in a positive way."
